Here’s another thought for you…
What if you live somewhere where your neighbor is one of these people with real skills, but they are not currently prepping?
While I would prefer to have a field surgeon in my group who is also actively prepping, I think the next best thing is to stock extra supplies so you can take on a group member with the skills you need.
Can you find out the ideal preps for a surgeon and have them on hand? Would this field surgeon chose to work with you if you didn’t also have food for his family?
Consider devoting a portion of your monthly budget to food stores for this extra person. Even if they don’t decide to work with you, I have a feeling we’ll all be wishing we had more stored food for our extra loved ones.
Or what about buying the supplies that would enable a ‘Tinkering’ type of person, like a welder, to actually run his equipment. Something like a small (or large) Solar panel trailer.
Invest a % Of Your Income For Others
I personally take 10% of my income and buy things for this exact purpose (to take care of others). I literally keep this pile of things in a separate pile in my house and treat it as NOT mine. I treat it much like a ‘tithe’. And if it turns out I’m wrong about this whole need to prep thing I will donate it to a church or charity of my choice in the future.
Do you have any clever ideas for aquiring talent when the SHTF?
If so, please leave a comment, I’d love to hear them.
