On a Lighter Note: Log Skidding Training

September 26, 2013 by admin

For those of you – like me – who are planning for grid-down situations and worst-case scenarios, sometimes homesteading can be a bit overwhelming.
There’s this half-way twilight zone between the life we’re used to and the life we’re trying to build.
There’s that point where you look at your vacuum cleaner and think, “Am I gonna want this in the bug-out location I’m building? Should I switch to a home-made sorghum broom instead? Am I insane?”
“Pa Mac,” the creator of the Farm Hand’s Companion site, wasn’t always a homesteader. In fact, he’s a professional media guy by trade… who’s turned in his comfy office for a life of traditional homesteading. In fact, I met Pa Mac in person once when I traveled with another producer to do a celebrity book interview… but that’s another story.
If you’re fighting with the best way to do things… trying to learn new skills… etc., Pa Mac’s an enjoyable source for some of the bits and pieces. His videos on pole barn building and other skills are excellent – but I have to confess, some of my favorite videos are the ones where he simply lets loose with his madness… like this one:

See? Look at how easy that was!
Keep your chin up, folks. It may not be an easy ride we’re on, but at least we can still laugh.
