Did you ever try disassembling wooden pallets? Did you enjoy the process?
Though many folks don’t know this, I went to college for art and spent a few years seriously pursuing a painting career before I realized I liked plants and writing more than the art scene (though I do still paint and create cool stuff on occasion). During those years, I was always scrounging for free sources of wood to paint on or to build with. I’ve attacked pallets plenty of times… and it’s always been a pain in the neck.
Until now.
I started building an Epic Tree Fort for my kids last week and so I started scrounging for wood again. A friend gave me some big pallets, so I attacked them with a saws-all like the guy in this video:
This method works like a charm. It took me about 5 minutes to cut apart a roughly 4 x 8′ shipping pallet.
You can cut apart a pallet in a few minutes with a reciprocating saw without breaking any planks or wasting your time hammering and crowbar-ing them to pieces.
Once you have your chunks, you’ve got firewood for cooking… boards for building… or even art materials.
Pallets are everywhere. Grab a few and try it out.
